The LocalMaps Search widget enables you to find locations or search features on the map. The search options available are those that have been defined by the administrators of the LocalMaps site.

Use the Search Widget

  1. When you enter a place-name or a keyword in the search box, you see suggestions as you type. If you see an arrow in the search box, you can search on all sources, or click the arrow and choose a layer from the drop-down list.

  2. If you organisation has enabled it, there may also be check-boxes available next to the searches in the drop-down. But ticking these on or off you will filter down what results are returned.

A pop-up appears at the location of the place-name or the feature and displays any available attribute information (if configured to do so by LocalMaps administrators).

2. If there are several results returned and you wish to quickly preview the locations, you can search on hover. To do this, hover your mouse over any result in the suggestions list and the map will zoom to that location. To stay on that result, simply move the mouse off the search suggestion and onto the map or just click on the search result in the dropdown list to view popup info. This is an optional feature that is enabled by administrators.
