RAMM

Road Assessment and Maintenance Management (RAMM) are a suite of applications to maintain and manage Road Asset data. RAMM software is used widely across New Zealand by NZ Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs) i.e. Councils and NZTA, engineering consultants and road maintenance contracting companies. RAMM functions include Asset maintenance, Asset valuation, Asset assessment, Forward Work Planning, Inventory based Asset management.

This section will walk you through building a RAMM hosted feature layer that sits in your ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS Organisation. By simply, imputing a RAMM Service URL you have the option to then define specific attributes to pull through and change alias fields to make a more readable output for users. You can then synchronize your layer to bring in any adds, deletes or updates on a scheduled basis.

Although the RAMM Layer is created through LocalMaps, its usage can go well beyond just the LocalMaps application. Accessible to the entire ArcGIS Platform, RAMM layer then be consumed in any web map, web application or in Desktop apps like ArcGIS Pro.

RAMM Integration is a Premium module within LocalMaps. Annual subscription costs apply. To inquire about pricing please contact sales@eagle.co.nz or to request a license directly, go to the RAMM section and follow instructions below.

In this section:

Email LocalMaps Support to ask a question or request assistance.

License RAMM

The RAMM integration module follows an annual subscription model. To access this functionality, your organisation will need to purchase a license key. This can be requested by heading to the greyed out RAMM section.

If unlicensed, the RAMM section will present options to Learn MoreRequest Key or Enter Licence Key.

  • By clicking on Request Key by Email, an auto generated email will pop up with your RequestKey outlined. You can then email this to Eagle Sales (please cc in licensing@eagle.co.nz and your Eagle Account Manager) for us to generate a license key for your LocalMaps Site. Please include what site you are requesting for e.g. Internal Test, External Prod etc.

  • The Eagle Licensing team will get back to you with your new license key.

  • When you recieve this, go back to the RAMM Admin section and click Enter License Key. Enter the key you were provided and then your RAMM module should be activated.

Note that the license key you request is for the site in question. This means if you wish to license multiple LocalMaps sites (Test, Prod etc) those will require seperate license keys. For more information, ask your account manager.

Configure RAMM Layer

  1. To create a new RAMM Layer, click New

  2. Enter a RAMM Service name for the so you can identify it later.

Note: The RAMM Service name must not contain any spaces or special characters. They layer will not create properly if it does contain these.

3. Enter the RAMM Service URL including any parameters. Click Continue

4. Next you can select the fields that you would like brought through in to the RAMM Feature Service. Here, you can also give them an alias, so instead of displaying road_id we can show Road Id. An important note,  OBJECT ID and GLOBALID will be selected be default as these are required by Esri.

5. You must also select one and only one identifier field. This is needed to keep track of what features we have loaded and what may be new. This is commonly set to “Id” or “Entity Id” but can be changed to a different field if needed.

6. Next, define a desired Refresh Interval for your Layer. Options are 24 hours48 hours36 hours or 72 hours.

7. Enter your admin username and password for your ArcGIS Online or Portal organisation and then Save to create the RAMM layer.

8. The RAMM Layer will now generate. However, it will only populate with features AFTER the sync service is first run. For instance, if you set your Refresh Interval to 24hrs, the layer will only show features when viewed after the 24hr period is complete.

View Layer

Once one complete Sync period has been completed, you will be able to view features in your RAMM layer in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise.

  1. Click the URL of the RAMM Layer to go to the REST endpoint OR log into ArcGIS Online / Portal for ArcGIS and search for your layer name. By default the layer will be saved to your users home content folder.

  2. From here you can view the newly created layer. Note that the hosted feature layer will include all geometries (even if some do not include data).

Edit / Delete Layer

To Edit or Delete a RAMM layer, click the corresponding button next to the layer in the RAMM section of the LocalMaps admin.
