Configure Maps
The LocalMaps Viewer theme is applied to any webmaps shared with the LocalMaps Group. Although the viewers might have the same look and feel, it may not make sense to have the exact same tools available in every single one. That is why with LocalMaps, you can configure and tailor each map viewer to have different widgets, print layouts and templates, searches, reports and feature queries. To get started, select the map you wish to configure from the webmap drop-down.

Map Widgets
There are 15 widgets available with a base LocalMaps installation (see LocalMaps User Guide for details on each). This section allows you to configure which widgets should and should not appear in the map. By default, all widgets are enabled for a map. To disable a widget for a specific map, simply click on the widget you wish to disable. The widget icon will turn grey. Should you wish to include the widget in the webmap again, clicking on the widget icon will enable it once more. The widget icon will appear bold again.
You also have the option to open a specific widget automatically when an viewer starts. To enable this feature, click the Open this widget automatically when the app starts button on the top right corner of the widget, which turns it bright green.
To reorder how the widgets appear in the map toolbar, click on the move icon in the top left corner of the widget then drag and drop widget into another position.
Widget Configuration
Select widget
The select widget also includes additional options to Show results in Attribute table after the selection, define what layers will show in the widget when it is opened and from those, what layers will be selectable to the user by default. To set these:
Click the Configure Icon on the Select widget.

2. Tick to Show Attribute Table after selection if desired. By default, this will not be ticked and results will how in the side popup panel.Â
3. Tick layers under Show in Select to make these available in the Select widget. Those not ticked will not be available.Â
4. For those layers elected in the above step, tick what ones will be Selectable by default when the widget is used. Those not checked can still be made selectable, but the user will need to do this manually.Â
5. Hit Save.
Note that when first configured, all layers will be set to Show in Select and be Selectable by default.Â
Add Data Widget
By default, the LocalMaps Add Data widget will use the Group set in the LocalMaps Widget Settings. However, you also have the option to set a different group of datasets for a particular map. Follow the steps below to configure the Add Data widget for a map:
1. Select a map from the drop down.Â
2. Click the Configure Icon on the Add Data widget.
3. Choose a group from the drop-down.
4. Hit Save
Advanced Select Widget
The LocalMaps Select widget can optionally include advanced selection options. When turning this on for map, first ensure that the Select widget is enabled then check the Use Advanced Select Options box situated below the widget icons. More information on the Advanced Select tools can be found in the Select Widget help.Â
Splash Screen
By default, the LocalMaps Splash screen is driven from what is set in the LocalMaps Widget settings. Here, you can choose whether the splash screen prompt will appear on all maps. The content of each maps splash screen is driven from what is set in the Item details Terms and Use section in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS. However, if you wish to disable / enable this for specific maps within LocalMaps, you can simply tick the Enable Splash Screen box below the widget icons. All other maps will adhere to what is set in the LocalMaps widget settings.Â
Workflow widget
Organisations using the Geocortex Workflow 5 by Latitude Geographics have the option to run Workflows from within the LocalMaps Viewer. Geocortex Workflow 5 is a solution offering that provides an easy way to automate business processes and use them with web mapping applications - like Esri Web AppBuilder or LocalMaps.Â
To enable a workflow to be used in a map, ensure that the Workflow is shared to your ArcGIS Online or Portal. See the Geocortex Documentation for more specific instructions on how to build a workflow in the Designer and share it. Follow the steps below to configure your workflow.
1. Select a map from the drop down. Ensure the map contains the layer the workflow was built to run against.
2. Click the Configure Icon on the Workflow widget.
3. The Configure window lists all Workflows shared with your organisation. Select one. This populates the Workflow Source name. This can be modified if necessary.
4. If the Workflow includes parameters, click on the Parameters tab.
5. Enter the Parameter Name and Value.
6. Click Save.
7. Optionally, you click Design a new workflow to launch the Workflow Designer directly from LocalMaps.

Layer List Widget
By default, the Layer List configuration will take on what has been set in the webmap. However, if you would like to change the settings for the layer list in a particular map you can do so by clicking the configuration icon on the widget. The following options can be ticked on or off.
1. Optionally check the Show title check box to display the title label Layers on the widget panel.
2. Optionally check the Show basemap check box to include basemap layers in the list.
3. Optionally check the Show Legend check box.
When this check box is checked, you can expand a layer to display its symbols.
4. Optionally check the Expand all layers by default check box.
This expands all group layers by default in your app, allowing them to be shown in the layers list.
5. Optionally check the following options to appear on the layer context menu:
Zoom To
Transparency
Enable/Disable Pop-up
Show/Hide Labels (applicable for Feature Layers, not Map Image layers)
Move up/Move down
Open Attribute Table
Description/Show Item Details/Download
6. Un-check layers in the map that you don't want to show on the list.
7. Click Save to close the window.
Assign Map Prints
The LocalMaps Print widget uses an ArcGIS Server Geoprocessing service. By default, all templates and layouts are enabled for each map. The administrator can turn the availability of different templates and layouts by ticking or unticking the relevant checkboxes for different templates. Templates and Layouts with ticked checkboxes will be available to use with the Print Widget in that map.
When a new map is first added to the LocalMaps Gallery, the Print Layouts and Templates may be blank in the viewer. To enable the Print Widget for new maps, open the administrator tools, go to the Map Prints and tick a layout off and on again. Then hit save. This will initiate the tool in the viewer.
Assign Map Searches
Once a Search Source is created in LocalMaps, it can then be assigned to a specific map in the Maps & Apps section. This is done under the Search Tab. To assign a search complete the following:
1. Configure the following general details for the search widget:
Placeholder:Â The placeholder text in the viewer search bar.
2. Select a Search from the Sources drop-down and click Add. Multiple search sources can be added to a map by selecting another and adding.Â
3. If you have configured default searches, then click Add Default. This will then add all default searches to the chosen map.
Assign Reports
Under the Reports tab, you can assign one or several Reports to a map in LocalMaps. A report will be available in the drop down only if the report layer is present in the map chosen. Click Add to assign it to the map.
If the map does not contain a report layer, a message will appear to check the layer is present.
Assign Feature Queries
If you have Feature queries set up in LocalMaps, you can assign them to a particular layer. This will allow the feature query to be displayed in the layers popup. To get started, ensure you have selected a map from the drop-down that contains a layer you want to surface the feature query information on. The Feature Queries tab lists all the layers in that map that have popups enabled.
1. Ensure that the layer you are adding the feature query to is registered as a datasource in LocalMaps.
2. Tick the boxes next to a feature query to add them to a layer.Â
Database queries and Layer Queries will require you to Set the fields for Layer. This is what the query will be based on e.g. Parcel ID
Spatial queries will require you to set the Spatial Relationship. Supported relationships are Intersects, Contains, Envelope Intersects, Overlaps, Touches, Within. You can optionally Use a buffer to select features. Define buffer distance and units.Â
3. Hit Save to add the Feature Query to the layer.
4. If multiple feature queries have been ticked, an additional Set Display Order button will appear at the bottom of the available feature queries. Click on this to rearrange the order in which feature queries will appear in the popup.Â
